ALL hand-made, hand-stitched thick, heavy, double-sided banner from a Catholic work group in Heinsberg, dated 1921-1927 (but used throughout the Reich and into the late 1940s).
Each side is 40" long- ! (about 70" from top to bottom) A Very huge banner-!
The closer one looks, the more detail can be spotted. It is an incredible piece of highly-skilled craftsmanship which took years and years to complete-!
Inter-laced with beautiful silver and gold bullion.
Please note the one side (the lighter cloth side with the Heinsberg lion), has some mildew-stains on the right side.
Unfortunate as it is, it is not devastating and still extremely displayable.
( also, there is every reason to believe this can come out with the proper professional cleaning. )
The side with St. Joseph teaching young Jesus the carpentry trade is in impeccable condition and is of such unbelievable pain-staining detail and master craftsmanship as to usually only seen in museums.
Just review the photos- this is no exaggeration.
( our photos hardly do justice to the piece as a whole. It truly is quite phenomenal ).
We are researching this Parrish and Heinsberg in general to help further add historical providence to this fine Germanic masterpiece ) |
