What an interesting piece of history here-
Generally- speaking, regarding NSDAP party books and their renewal; when a Party member filled his membership book completely up, he had to hand it in to get his new book. For an individual to own his old Party book is very, very rare indeed.
This is a pair of NSDAP membership ID cards for a young intellectual/ instructor who, come the war, ended-up being drafted into the army, fought on the Russian Front and captured - spending time as an enemy POW and then released in 1946.
The first membership booklet, is the very early style edition, and shows his membership number as 1,078,066 and stamped by the Ortsgruppen Babenhausen (outside Frankfurt am).
His dues stamps run from 1933-35 and includes the 1935 Reichsparteitag.
His second renewal booklet covers 1940-41 dues and a stamp for the never-realized 1939 Reichsparteitag.
Included is a super nice and early NSDAP party membership-type pin. weee.
The early book shows average scattered age wear, around corners, etc, the renewal book is prestine.
A remarkable group as the man/ family took sort of a double-risk by owning these in post-war Germany where, if discovered, resulted in serious fines and jail-time. |
